Come ride with me

It has been quiet on my Blog for a long time, I know, but right now I can finally shout it out; I’ve got my own website www.ride-on.at and became an official tour guide last month! I’m proud of and thrilled about this and would like to share it with all of you.

Staatlich geprüfter snowboard Führer (translated: Snowboard guide), been there, done it!

I enjoyed my eduction each of the 24 days it lasted. Of course I could try to write down my experiences  during those days. However, I think it’s hard to define because you actually have to experience the offpiste /  backcounty world yourself. Youngsters or adults, tourists, amateurs or professionals – it doesn’t matter at all. The backcountry environment has – accompanied by the appropriate tour guide – the right descents for everyones personal level. I have always been convinced that the backcountry terrain changes people in a positive way.

In my opinion, backcountry freeriding is the most spectacular and impressive way of descending mountains. We can do this in a safe way – at almost all levels. The serene silence, the amazing sight and the untouched snow give me goosebumps and a huge smile over and over again.

For those who like to get an impression of my weeks of education, here’s a brief summary.

24 Days in a hut in the middle of nowhere (no lifts included). Getting up early every day, concentrate, planning, theory, practice, rope- and rescue techniques, tension, relaxation, sweating (everywhere!), enjoying, losing weight, learn, experience, getting wiser, adrenaline, collaborate, exams, stress etc.
Making wrong decisions or failing mentally or physically were the reasons to get dismissed. Knowing this, everyone had to deal with tension and I could definitely feel it in my group. You could say it was tough, but awesome as well!

How did my average day look like?:

Getting up early, eat something, prepare my splitboard and start hiking – hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, orientation! Hiking further, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, orientation! Hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, maybe a short break, orientation and hiking agian, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking, hiking. Fortunately we were hiking up the mountain, so it wasn’t pointless at all. In the end we had to use ropes to traverse glaciers and climb over 50+ degrees hills. Once we reached the peak we could enjoy the amazing view and rest a few minutes before the descent.

That’s basically what we were doing every day. About 5-7 hours hiking and if you were lucky, like I was, all without blisters. After a short break at the top we could finally make the most amazing descents. Like I said, one descent. But a very special one, so the hiking was worth it!

Does my story interest you?

Would you like to experience the same, but without the exams, stress and other unpleasant stuff? Go freeriding or on tour with me in the winter. Experience the backcountry and relax at the same time :)

Website:

Since 2008, I am trainer at WSSV’s/Snowsport Academy’s snowboard Anwärter & Landes courses. Because I’m a certified guide now, I would like to hire myself to all kinds of people. I found it necessary to have my own website; to present and show the world who I am and what I could do for them. The website also gives me space to share my collaborations as well. Apart from this, Ride-On is also hosted by my colleagues Steff Wallner and Julian Steiger.

So take a look at our site, speak up, enjoy your life, become our Facebook (girl)friend, follow us on Twitter, sign up for the newsletter and we hope to see you soon!

Welcome to the Family!
